JUSTINIAN LAW SOCIETY SCHOLARSHIP RULES
- The Scholarship Committee shall recommend to the President suitable candidates. Scholarships shall be granted to properly qualified students of Italian descent.
- Any money donated by members of the Justinian Law Society for the purpose of scholarship grants, or interest accruing thereon, shall be awarded to properly qualified applicants through the recommendation of the Scholarship Committee to the President.
- If all scholarships are not awarded because of an insufficient number of properly qualified candidates or other reason, the value of the unawarded scholarships shall be placed in the Justinian Law Society of Massachusetts Scholarship account for use in future years.
- Scholarship Awards are limited to members of the third year class (or fourth year part-time) of each Massachusetts law school and shall be awarded on the following basis:
a) SCHOLASTIC ABILITY AND ACHIEVEMENT
b) CHARACTER
c) ACTIVITIES
- All applications become the property of the Justinian Law Society of Massachusetts and cannot be returned.
INSTRUCTIONS
- The Application for Scholarship Award must be delivered or mailed to the Justinian Law Society of Massachusetts, attention of the Scholarship Chair, postmarked no earlier than September 11, 2006 and no later than November 10, 2006.
- A complete application must contain the following five parts
- the application form filled out completely and signed by the applicant;
- a current resume;
- a letter of recommendation from the applicant’s dean or a professor who is familiar with the applicant’s abilities and character;
- a letter, written and signed by the applicant, stating reasons for applying for a scholarship and listing particular interests and activities, the size and circumstances of the applicant’s family, how law school is being financed, and any other pertinent information; and
- a current transcript of grades received during the first and second year (and third year if a part-time student) at law school.
- Your application will be disqualified if all five parts listed above are not received in one envelope, postmarked no later than November 10, 2006. NO EXCEPTIONS CAN BE MADE.
- Recipients will be notified by telephone or mail of their selection no later than November 21, 2006. All scholarship recipients are expected to attend a Holiday/Scholarship Award Dinner in December, 2006.
