Mark Ventola is the one of Boston's top rated Employment and Labor attorneys.  He has an office in Boston where he co-chairs the Labor and Employment Law Practice Group at Sheehan Phinney.  Mark drats agreements, policies and protocols concerning hiring, termination and separation, wage and hour, family and medical leave and other compliance issues. Dana Curhan is the one of Boston's best appellate attorneys.  He has an office in Boston, concentrating in civil and criminal appeals. Previously, he was with the Bristol County District Attorneys Office.  Attorney Curhan is a graduate of Harvard Law School and Columbia University.  In his practice, he has written hundreds of post judgment motions, numerous appellate briefs, trial memoranda, postconviction memoranda and petitions of various kinds.  Attorney Curhan also handles a wide variety of civil matters, representing both appellants and appellees.   "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Appeals Court (Or How To Avoid Screwing Up Your Civil Appeal On Procedural Grounds)" is his latest article.  It covers the procedual steps to take an appeal from the trial court through filing in the Appeals Court.   Dana will share some of his important and interesting civil and criminal appellate cases.   Our members and guests will undoubtedly enjoy this evening learning from one of the best, networking with colleagues and enjoying a delicous Italian meal.

R. Marc Kantrowitz. is the most highly published lawyer on state law in Massachusetts.  He has written numerous books on criminal law, motor vehicle tort law, juvenile law, evidence, and mental health, as well as numerous law-related articles.  He earned a B.A. in History from Ohio University and an M.A. in Political Science in 1974.  After graduating from law school (University of Toledo) in 1978, he moved to Boston, where he served as an assistant district attorney in Suffolk County, a private attorney, a juvenile court judge, and an appellate court judge until his retirement last year.  As an attorney, he tried more than 10 jury trials and handled two dozen first degree murder cases. "Old Whiskey and Young Women" is the judge's latest book.  It covers real-life sex scandals and murder trials from the late 1700s to the late 1970s.  The book retells some of the most notorious court cases in American history--cases that titillated, if not repulsed, the entire nation when they first occurred but are today nearly totally forgotten.  Our members will undoubtedly enjoy this evening.

Patrick M. Demers, M. S. has been qualified nationally as an expert in the areas of chemical testing, the analysis of blood, breath and urine for ethyl alcohol and other drugs, and the interpretation of the test results. He was the former owner of DEMERS LABORATORY, INC, in Springvale, Maine and was an associate with Forensic Associates, Inc, of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Mr. Demers provides consultation and expert testimony in civil and criminal cases to public and private agencies as well as private attorneys, insurance companies and industry throughout the United States. He has qualified and testified as an expert witness in twenty six states over the past thirty five years on issues of drugs, chemical testing and interpretation of the test results. He received his Masters in Forensic Chemistry from Northeastern University in 1985. Mr. Demers lectures throughout the United States in his specialty areas of forensic chemistry, analytical chemistry, pharmacology and toxicology.
